There are many health benefits for drinking herbal tea reasons why you should drink them:

#1. To Lose Weight

Losing weight through herbal teas is a very popular topic. The reason why teas can help weight loss is mainly because they can increase your body metabolism and thus improve your cardiovascular system, blood circulation and ultimately lower your cholesterol level. The catechin polyphenols present in green tea diets can delay the reaction of gastric and pancreatic lipases in the body. These enzymes convert calories in the body into fats. By delaying this enzymatic activity, green tea diets can prevent fat from being stored and hence prevent obesity.

In addition, exercise is essential for effective weight management, it is important to exercise regularly, try to excercise at least 30 minutes a day and at least 3 days every week. This regular exercise not only helps burn off extra calories, but help keep the body flexible and helps to maintain muscle strength and endurance. Walking, jogging, and leisure activities such as amateur sports, can be very effective types of exercise. The key is to just stay as active as possible and definately stay off the couch. Many people constantly face that difficult uphill battle to regain control of their weight and healthy body issues. Ultimaletly taking good care of the prostate requires taking better care of yourself.

#2. Prevent Cancer

Some newer research reveals that green tea might help prevent the spread of prostate cancer. Specifically the phytochemicals found in green tea, called polyphenols attack the growth factors and protiens interupting the growth processes of tumors, resulting in preventing them from spreading to other organs of the body.

Now because earlier studies showed that the same natural plant substances may also help to prevent the start of prostate cancer itself, researchers indicated that more studies need to be done on green teas affect on fighting this common type of cancer. The best way to reduce your risk of prostate cancer still lies in eating a mostly vegetarian diet.

Phytochemicals in green tea seem to increase the number of enzymes that help convert carcinogens in the body to a dormant, or harmless forms. Numerous questions still remain about the amount and or frequency of green tea necessary to affect the formation of prostate cancer itself.

#3. Cure Stomach Disorder

Persistent abdominal pain or cramping can be eased or soothed through the supplemental use of herbal solutions consisting of fennel and peppermint teas. These herbs can be mixed together in water and steeped for around twenty to thirty minutes. The solution can be strained and cooled down, and this tea can be taken daily to ease the symptoms of stomach cramps and pain.

Alternately, taking a single teaspoon of the essential oils of each of these herbs along fluids can also help in treating stomach disorders. Fennel can be used to soothe soreness in the stomach. Peppermint herb is also an effective analgesic in the treatment of stomach pain.

Herbal teas made from chamomile and slippery elm herbs also effectively help in soothing the swollen mucous membranes in the stomach lining. This virus is one of many that are responsible for causing the common cold according to studies conducted at the University of Sherbrooke in Canada and also at the University of Florida. The latter study indicated that Green Tea drinkers had an enhanced ability to fight common colds and flu because of an increase in a specific type of immune cells known as interferon gamma T cells. The study showed that Green Tea drinkers had a 28% increase in interferon gamma T cells with a 26% increase in the secretion of antigens as opposed to those who did not consume Green Tea.(1,2)EGCG also helps to inhibit the influenza virus from replicating and also exhibits antifungal properties.(3-4)

Green Tea Helps to Protect the Liver. Green tea protects the liver by stimulating the immune system because of the action of powerful antioxidants reducing the damage done by toxins due to excess alcohol consumption and cigarette smoke. The result of such studies indicates that a dietary supplement of Green Tea can help to reduce early toxin-induced liver injury by neutralizing oxidative stress.(5-6)

Green Tea Helps to Promote the Production of Immune Cells. Tea polysaccharides (TPS), one of the main components in green tea, stimulate the production of cytokines in the bone marrow. Cytokines are used in cellular communication and are critical to the body’s immune response to pathogens.(7)A balanced diet along with plenty of fruits and vegetables, and exercise will help support good health. With numerous studies that strongly suggest Green Tea’s beneficial effects it only makes sense to protect immune health through Green Tea supplementation. Instead of reaching for coffee, substitute your coffee drinking with cups of Green Tea. Six cups of green tea a day is said to increase your immunity 5 times faster than plain coffee.
